Romeo and Juliet Essay

         

Back then Romeo and Juliet were in love with each other. Today we have couples that love each other like Romeo and Juliet did, but we both have similarities and differences. In the book Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet were madly in love and they didn’t take each other for granted; they both are happy for each other. They are meant to be. They have a passion for each other, and they don’t want it to die. The relationship between Romeo and Juliet is similar and different to relationship’s today for many reasons.

          How it’s similar to today because people love each other and they actually take chances to be with each other. In the book scene 2 act 2 line 134 it states “th’ exchange of thy loves faithful vow for mine”. This quote shows that there love is mutual and they both have that part that they love about each other. They can’t lose each other. This is similar to today because people also take chances to be with each other and actually putting effort in the relationship and love each other for what’s on the inside, not the outside. This relates to today because people have strong relationships and they have trust between each other. Romeo and Juliet have trust and they have a very strong relationship, they love each and that’s what matters.

          Another similarity is that they disobey and argue with their parents. Romeo and Juliet both want to do what’s in their head. In act 3 scene 5 line 210 it states “delay this marriage for a month, a week, or if do not, make the bridal bed in that dim monument where tybalt lies”. This quote means that she will not marry any other guy except Romeo and just delay this marriage or if you don’t kill me and put me next to tybalt. This is similar to today because people argue with their parents for love for example if a girl has a girlfriend and her parents don’t want her to and she doesn’t want to give him up she really loves him and she has so many feelings for him. That’s one example. When someone really loves someone else they would never give him/ her up for anything. That’s called true and real love. They don’t care what other people have to say.

          One difference is that long ago communication was very hard they didn’t have any cell phones they only had letters or they had to send someone to deliver the message to the other person. In act 2 scene 5 it states “the clock struck nine when I sent the nurse”. This quote shows that Juliet sent the nurse to talk to Romeo. She is worried about the nurse and what she has to say about Romeo and the things that happened with her and Romeo. This relates to today because today we have technology and back then they didn’t have this. This lack of communication will result in not knowing each other that well and that will lead to heart breaks and tears.

          In conclusion, there are so many similarities and differences in the book compared to real life. This is a text to world connection because this happens in real life. The reader shows that what Romeo and Juliet had was true love and they had each other. They truly loved each other.at the end of the book they dies together. They needed each other to be alive. What they had was chemistry.
